Product Description

The core goal of retrofit for heavy-duty horizontal lathes is to improve the machining accuracy, automation level and stability of large-diameter, long-shaft parts. The common retrofit directions include CNC upgrading, precision restoration, heavy-duty cutting performance enhancement and automation supporting. This solution is suitable for processing heavy workpieces such as rolls, wind power main shafts and large transmission shafts.

Spindle System Retrofit (Core Component)
Accuracy Restoration: Replace with P2/P4-class heavy-duty angular contact ball bearings or double-row cylindrical roller bearings and re-preload them; regrind the spindle taper hole (usually Morse taper No.6 or above) to control the radial runout ≤ 0.005mm and axial runout ≤ 0.003mm.
Torque Enhancement: Upgrade the spindle motor power (with a 20%-30% margin reserved), install a spindle oil cooling/water cooling system to reduce thermal deformation during heavy-load machining; if indexing function is required, install a C-axis servo indexing device to achieve 360° arbitrary indexing.
Chuck Upgrading: Replace the conventional chuck with a heavy-duty hydraulic self-centering chuck featuring adjustable clamping force. It is suitable for workpieces with a diameter of φ500mm or above, improving clamping stability.
Torque Enhancement: Upgrade the spindle motor power (with a 20%-30% margin reserved), install a spindle oil cooling/water cooling system to reduce thermal deformation during heavy-load machining; if indexing function is required, install a C-axis servo indexing device to achieve 360° arbitrary indexing.

Retrofit of Guide Rail and Feed System
Guide Rail Treatment: The guide rails of heavy-duty horizontal lathes are mostly cast iron sliding guide rails. For slight wear, wear-resistant coating pasting + manual scraping is adopted (contact accuracy ≥ 85%). In case of severe wear, replace them with heavy-duty linear rolling guide rails equipped with anti-overturning sliders to meet the requirements of heavy-load feeding.
Lead Screw Upgrading: Replace with C3-class heavy-duty ball screws (diameter ≥ φ80mm) and conduct pre-tensioning treatment to eliminate thermal deformation. Install a double-nut backlash elimination mechanism to control the backlash ≤ 0.01mm.
Servo Matching: Select high-torque AC servo motors (torque ≥ 200N·m) equipped with planetary reducers to improve low-speed feeding rigidity and avoid the "crawling" phenomenon during heavy-load machining. Adopt full-closed-loop linear scales (resolution: 0.001mm) to achieve high-precision positioning.
